Analyst, Underwriting & Strategy

Department: Real Estate Investments & Operations
Location: Victor, NY

The Analyst, Underwriting & Strategy will provide analytical support to Broadstone’s commercial real estate underwriting function. This position reports to the Director, Underwriting & Strategy.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop knowledge on a broad spectrum of the company's real estate related activities, and provide support to senior management with investment analysis, asset management, and general investment and portfolio strategy.
  • Analyze and underwrite investment opportunities across all property types, structures, risk profiles, and geographies.
  • Create and maintain detailed financial models and other analyses required to evaluate investment opportunities and inform decision making across the entire asset lifecycle.
  • Support decision making with respect to the existing portfolio, defining and implementing strategies that drive long-term shareholder value.
  • Support the preparation of investment memos and other presentations for senior management, Investment Committee, and Portfolio Review Committee.
  • Interface closely with Acquisitions, Property Management, and Credit Risk teams.
  • Executes duties and maintains standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Overtime hours may be required as job duties demand.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Effective decision-making skills and an ability to perform under deadline pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present data and findings
  • Work well independently and in a team; self-starter, but not hesitant to ask for direction as needed
  • Solid work ethic and a professional, proactive, and positive approach to work

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Up to 3 years of experience in the financial or real estate industry
  • Knowledge of finance and real estate terms and concepts a plus

Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Professional office environment with routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machine; noise level typical of a standard office environment
  • Prolonged sitting, computer, and telephone use, as well as standing, filing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting, and carrying up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to travel by plane, train, and automobile and operate a motor vehicle

The base salary range for this role is: $50,000 - $65,000. This range is Broadstone’s good faith estimate of the annual base salary it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to the individual’s experience, skillset, education & certifications, job-related knowledge, location, and other relevant factors identified through the recruitment & selection process.
